The Raisin platform is a product of A.K.A. New Media Inc. (dba Raisin Software) (“Raisin”). Raisin is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information collected on its system, which consists of various types of constituent data within each Client’s account (the “Licensee”), including donors, participants, and other stakeholders.
Raisin respects each Client’s right to ownership of content created or stored in their account. The Service Agreement between the Licensee and Raisin does not grant Raisin the license to use, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, or distribute the content created or stored for Raisin’s commercial, marketing, or any similar purpose, except for: (i) non-identifiable summary and transaction details which Raisin may use and share with the greater non-profit community; and (ii) Raisin’s permission to access, copy, distribute, store, transmit, reformat, publicly display, and publicly perform the content of accounts on Raisin as required for the purpose of providing and supporting the Service.
Guiding Principle
Raisin and its Licensees are committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of their constituents. Raisin’s Privacy Policy for the platform outlines the rules for the collection, use, disclosure, and retention of personal information, organized around ten (10) internationally recognized PIPEDA privacy principles.
Part 1: For Donors and Participants
If you are a donor, participant, or volunteer who has interacted with a fundraising campaign on the Raisin platform, this section explains Raisin’s role and what you can expect from us regarding your personal information.
Your Data Belongs to the Charity, Not to Raisin
When you donate to or participate in a fundraising campaign powered by Raisin, your personal information is collected by and on behalf of the charitable organization (the “Licensee”) running that campaign — not by Raisin. Raisin acts as a technology platform that processes data on the Licensee’s behalf. The charitable organization is the data controller for your information.
To understand how the charity uses your data — or to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information — please contact that organization directly.
What Raisin Does With Your Information
As the platform provider, Raisin:
processes your data to enable the charitable organization to receive your donation or registration;
stores your data securely in accordance with our Data Security Standards;
does not sell, rent or disclose personal information to third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes;
does not use your name, email address, or other directly identifying personal information to train any AI model;
may share personal information with service providers that process information on our behalf, including hosting, monitoring, security, support and session replay; and
facilitates credit card transactions through 3rd party payment gateways. Your credit card information is never stored directly with Raisin and we do not store, host or transmit cardholder data.
How raisin Uses Behavioural Signals
Raisin collects anonymized behavioural signals — such as session engagement patterns, campaign interaction signals, and constituent giving outcomes — to power its platform intelligence and improve the fundraising experience for the sector. These signals help Raisin understand what kinds of donor journeys lead to successful giving relationships, and that learning is applied across the platform to help charitable organizations engage their supporters more effectively.
Signals used for this purpose are processed in a manner designed to prevent identification of individual donors and are subject to the same access controls as all Customer Data. A summary of how these signals are used is published in Raisin’s Data, Privacy & AI Standards at https://www.raisinsoftware.org/data-privacy-ai-standards.
AI Features and Your Data
Raisin’s platform includes AI-assisted features for fundraisers and campaign managers, which are clearly labelled in the platform wherever they are available.
No AI feature on the Raisin platform uses your name, email address, or other directly identifying personal information as an input.
AI features that assist fundraisers work only with the fundraiser’s own content and publicly available campaign information.
No AI-generated content is published on your behalf without a human actively choosing to do so.
Your Rights as a Donor or Participant
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights:
Contact the charitable organization directly. They are the data controller for your information and are responsible for fulfilling your request.
If you cannot reach the organization, contact Raisin at privacy@raisinsoftware.org and we will engage the organization’s privacy officer on your behalf.
How to Opt Out of Communications
If you wish to opt out of communications from a charity, use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact the charitable organization directly. If you contact Raisin at privacy@raisinsoftware.org, we will direct you to the appropriate privacy officer of the organization.
Part 2: Privacy Principles — Our Full Policy
Principle 1: Accountability for Personal Information
Raisin has a Privacy Officer who is accountable for compliance with this Privacy Policy and acts as the primary contact on information privacy and security matters. The Privacy Officer reports directly to the CEO and has established a cross-departmental Privacy Committee that meets on an ongoing basis.
Privacy inquiries: privacy@raisinsoftware.org | 866-766-3336
A Privacy Impact Assessment is required for the creation of new personal information entities in the Raisin platform and for significant changes, including the introduction of new AI features.
Principle 2: Identifying Purposes for the Collection of Personal Information
The purpose of the Raisin platform is to support fundraising initiatives of the Licensee. The Licensee will identify the purposes for which personal information is collected at or before the time of collection. These purposes include: donor recruitment, issuing tax receipts, registration for a fundraising event, administration of a donor’s interests, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Principle 3: Obtaining Consent
The knowledge and consent of a person is required for the direct collection, use, or disclosure of personal information except where mandated by law.
Principle 4: Limiting Collection of Personal Information
The Licensee will limit the collection of personal information to that which is necessary for the purposes identified. Information will be collected by fair and lawful means.
Principle 5: Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention of Personal Information
Personal information will not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the person or as required by law. Personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.
Raisin does not trade, rent, or sell any personal information to third parties.
AI features on the Raisin platform are designed to operate without using donor or participant directly identifying personal information. AI-assisted tools for fundraisers work only with the fundraiser’s own content and publicly available campaign information. No donor name, email address, or directly identifying personal information is passed to Raisin’s AI provider. Raisin does collect anonymized behavioural signals — such as engagement patterns, session interactions, and constituent giving outcomes — and uses these to train and improve platform intelligence features (including donor scoring and campaign optimization). These signals are processed at an aggregated level designed to prevent identification of individual donors, and are governed by a Data Processing Agreement with Raisin’s AI provider, a summary of which is published at https://trust.raisinsoftware.org. AI-generated outputs are retained for no more than thirty (30) days for quality assurance, after which they are deleted.
Principle 6: Ensuring Accuracy of Personal Information
The Licensee is responsible for ensuring personal information is accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Should Raisin be contacted directly by constituents to have data removed from the platform at privacy@raisinsoftware.org, the constituent will be directed to the Privacy Officer of the Licensee, as data ownership lies with the Licensee.
Principle 7: Ensuring Safeguards for Personal Information
Personal information is protected with security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. All Raisin employees and directors must sign a Confidentiality Agreement. All independent contractors or vendors who have a working relationship with Raisin must also sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
Detailed technical and organizational security measures, including Raisin’s PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider compliance (maintained for over fifteen years) and the current status of SOC 2 Type II certification, are set out in the Raisin Data Security Standards and published at https://trust.raisinsoftware.org.
Principle 8: Openness Concerning Policies and Practices
Raisin’s privacy policies are available on raisinsoftware.org. This policy is reviewed annually; the last updated date is shown at the top of this document. Current certification status, subprocessor list, and AI provider DPA summaries are published at https://trust.raisinsoftware.org.
Principle 9: Access to Personal Information
Upon request, a person will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information and shall be given access to that information. To request this information, please contact the Privacy Officer of the charity or foundation. Should you contact Raisin directly, we will engage the Privacy Officer of the organization where your data resides.
Principle 10: Challenging Compliance
A challenge concerning compliance with the above principles should be made to: privacy@raisinsoftware.org | 866-766-3336. Please include “Privacy” in the subject line.
Applicable Law
This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with PIPEDA and, for Quebec, Law 25 (Bill 64). For Licensees or constituents in the United States, Raisin applies equivalent protections consistent with applicable state privacy laws.
